What is a Quality Assurance Credential?
A Quality Assurance Credential (https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/QualityAssuranceCredential) assures that an organization, program, or awarded credential meets prescribed requirements and may include development and administration of qualifying examinations.
A Quality Assurance Credential could include issued credentials, statements of certifications, formal letters, placement in a directory or list indicating one or more recipients have met quality criteria. Quality Assurance Credentials should have transparent information on the process, standards, and criteria used to determine if qualifications are met for issuing quality assurance instruments.
What is a Quality Assurance Action?
Quality Assurance Actions are the processes, standards, and related criteria for assessing the quality of organizations, courses, learning programs, credentials, assessments, and other entities. “Actions” define these types of recognition in quality assurance processes, including:
What organizations should publish Quality Assurance Actions?
Organizations who should make their Quality Assurance Actions available in the Credential Registry include:
- Accreditation Organizations: Entities responsible for accrediting educational institutions and programs
- Certification and Recognition Organizations: Organizations offering certification, approval, recognition, or similar services to education and credentialing entities for organizations, courses, programs, assessments, and/or credentials
- Government Agencies: Regulatory organizations that approve and oversee education and credentialing organizations, programs, and/or credentials
- Organizations that review Organizations: Organizations that assert that organizations are qualified to provide quality assurance processes
What types of Quality Assurance Actions can be published to the Credential Registry?

Rights Action | Action asserting legal rights by an agent to possess, defend, transfer, license, and grant conditional access to a credential, learning opportunity, or assessment. |
