Get Started: Publishing and Linking to Transfer Value Profiles

Getting StartedTransfer Values

Introduction to Publishing Transfer Values: Publish data to the Credential Registry about the transfer values that your organization accepts as credit toward learning programs, credentials, assessments, and courses. Publishing these transfer values fosters an environment where learners can gain rightful recognition for their prior accomplishments. It allows individuals to apply their earned credentials, courses, or assessments from other organizations towards further educational pursuits seamlessly.  Using the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) and the Credential Registry to link your organization’s transfer values with various resources creates a connected network of information, ensuring transparency and equity in educational credit transfer practices.

Using the Credential Registry publishing system is free.  To get started publishing Transfer Value Profiles:

  1. Credential Registry Account: Set up your free Credential Registry account: https://apps.credentialengine.org/accounts
  2. Publish Transfer Value: Use the Credential Registry Publishing System tool that is right for you to publish your courses, credentials, learning opportunities, and/or assessments to the Credential Registry. See additional instructions and guidance.
  3. Link to 3rd Party Data: When publishing your transfer values, you can include CTIDs from data published by other organizations to indicate you accept their courses, credentials, learning opportunities, assessments, and other types of CTDL resources as credit towards the credentials, courses, etc.. that your organization offers. See additional instructions and guidance.

Contact Credential Engine: If you have any questions or need assistance, contact our publishing team publishing@credentialengine.org.  A member of our team will respond and provide the assistance to help with the publishing process.

Linking Transfer Value Data

The CTDL and the Credential Registry support linking data together that is published by your organization and by other organizations. When you publish the transfer values your organization accepts, you can also link directly to resources such as credentials, transfer value recommendations, or articulated transfer values published by 3rd parties to the Credential Registry. Utilize the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) and the Credential Registry to efficiently link your published data with those from other entities, creating a cohesive network of information.

Linking to 3rd party transfer values is applicable if your organization:

  • Accepts credentials, courses, other learning learning opportunities, or assessments as transfer towards required program completion credits, published by other credentialing organizations to the Credential Registry and/or;
  • Accepts transfer value recommendations published to the Registry by the American Council on Education (ACE) as transfer towards required program completion credits, and/or,
  • Accepts articulated transfer value published to the Registry by the Kansas Board of Regents towards required program completion credits, publish data about the credentials, learning programs, courses, or other types of resources towards which the transfer recommendations or articulated transfer values are applicable.

See the below additional instructions and guidance.
